Its cute when style bloggers are deeply influenced by the italian swerve, but its cuter when the bloggers themselves are italian and personal styling straight from Milan. Although, the obnoxious tie and pocket square mode can get on my nerves when it has an overly traditional intepretation, I do appreciate the masters of it and their knowledge on menswear theory. In other news, a week ago, I misplaced my favourite cashmere sweater, still havent found it so I decided to ease the pain with two (cheaper-almost-as-soft) ones, love yourselves. :))

Rich Mnisi is just a superstar, his photography work becomes more and more palatable with each shot, I truly am enjoying his growth within this craft. Its great that amidst the chaos of everyone and anyone being a photographer, stylist, poet/writer or some other obvious creative situation, it is still possible to pick out the genuinely talented (and actually creative). Navy x Black

This week proved once again that I have an insane obsession with blue, especially navy and this is clearly not something I just recently picked up but an enduring part of who I am (…). The fact that I can put together more than 3 outfits of full on blue states that my attempts to add colour into my closet are actually just lies I tell to get more blue items… I swear it is not a mood thing, well I hope not.

Anyway, during the auntumn winter mens shows I spotted an influx of navy and black combos, more vividly at Valentino (my ultimate favourite). The interesting thing about this combination is the fluidity it has, it almost feels like a monochromatic look but with a deeper poetic depth, also, the idea that this is something that was once frowned upon makes it that much more appealing. You know us young cats (…) and rebellion, best pals.

I daydream about love in human form but always find it in clothing instead, may not be long term love but it delivers when summoned. I admit, my clothes take on too much responsibility, some of which can only be fully fulfilled by humans, its as if I’ve taught myself to react to needs with wants thus these wants have become needs. Its the comfort of a perfectly tailored pant, a precise enough shade of blue on a pinstripe shirt or mood a combination of both creates, it mutes everything else.

So that is currently happening at the present moment.

Anyway… 22.

The first two images are a true representation of what I expect my winter to be like, comfortable, easy but… chic! The third image is just as good though, the multi coloured knit with leather pants is a genuine deal, so then autumn/winter season to me is wool, leather, navy, camel and solids.

Branding is such an intriguing discipline, it has also become a human phenomenon, everyone speaks of himselves as an advertiser would a bottle of beer. Though, right now human mental evolution is not what I’m interested in, its the fashion empires instead. We fall in love with a designer not only because they created that amazing leather jacket with chain detail (tacky now, but this was Balmain a few years ago) but also because they deliver on the intangible as well. The intangible could be a comforting supply of status or an admired aesthetic all offered by a simple label, these are created using dramatisation through ad campaigns and at other times, stories of association.

Stories of association could refer to the personalities or projects that the label has relations with, these act as an extension to that labels vision and are as vital as the previously mentioned leather jacket. Here’s an example, Lindsay Lohan was once appointed as creative director at Ungaro, though things were already out of shape this strategy to get publicity using a celebrities popularity and style icon status only made things worse, why? because people would much rather party with than take style advice from Lindsay, its PARIS. Thus, this failure not only stemmed from the fact that the collection itself was out of shape but also because like I said Lindsay is more Courtney Love than Victoria Beckham, its an image she created which made no sense to the already established image of Ungaro.

Its very disappointing to see how some designers have a “capital over integrity” perspective when in fact integrity solidifies long term consumer trust and commitment. My reblogger advice? Keep your aesthetic in mind before creating alliances with bloggers or celebrities, gain publicity in a manner that will elaborate on your brand beliefs, values and ideals clearly. Lastly, all PR stunts should introduce a new yet familiar chapter to your progressive growth instead of an entirely new book.

Older men with a sense of youthfulness do fashion so well, having been exposed to a time when things were so traditional to still existing in a time where innovation is what every single person/ designer is trying to achieve, must be a great perk. This one (image) in particular is currently on all the street style blogs, tailored and swerved up.
